Year of the Monkey Notepad and Pen

Blank kraft notepads are from Ben Franklin.  The monkey on the pen was made from shrink plastic, using the same stamp that is on the notepad.  I forgot how much fun shrink plastic is...I'll probably do a few more projects before I put it away again!

Happy New Year!!

Here's a fun way to start planning for the year ahead.  Using images from our latest cling set, MC-57 (Year of the Monkey), attach laminated images to paper clips (I used a hot glue gun to attach my images).  When you add your clip to your calendar, it looks like the monkey is hanging by its tail.  Use the clip to mark special occasions, countdowns, to hold appointment reminder cards, etc.

Hope you all have a fun, healthy and crafty 2016!!

A Sideways Matchbook Cover

One last project for the weekend!!!  Chinese New Year is coming up on January 31...the Year of the Horse!!  I made a simple matchbook cover (but turned it on its side) to hold a little sesame candy treat.  To make...cut a strip of card stock measuring 2" x 6-5/8"...score at 3/4", 3-3/4" and 4-1/8", then fold.  Staple the treat into the 3/4" fold, wrap around the candy then tuck the end into the stapled tab.  Super easy!!!  I used stamps from MC-42 (Year of the Horse)...plus a few sakura flowers (in gold) from CL-8 (Friends Cling Set).

Can't forget the boys:

This next photo was shared with me by Edna...I think they're ready for Girl's Day, don't you?  All the kokeshi faces are from cling set CL-15 (Kokeshi)...now that's a labor of love!!

I'm really delinquent in posting this next picture...it's from the sweet and so supportive Shirl from Creations by Shirl.  Hop on over to her blog to see more really inspiring creations!!

One last thing...spotted these cute post-it holders on Lynn's blog...She also used the kokeshi faces from CL-15, but put her own creative twist to it...you'll see what I mean!!

Hope that gets you ready for some fun crafting this weekend!!  Happy Girl's Day!!!

A Last Minute Idea

How did Valentine's Day sneak up on us so quickly?  In case you're a last minute crafter (I know you're out there)...here's a quick idea.  Click here for the pattern.

This first one uses stamp #C132 (Hugs) and the sentiment "Hugs" is from MC-16 (Fuzzy Bear 2).  To start, cut out 2 pattern pieces along solid lines.  Apply double stick tape to the backside of each piece, as shown below...also, cut out a 3-3/4" (h) x 5-5/8" (w) piece of cellophane (I didn't have any on hand, so I cut up a food storage bag and that worked out well too):

Remove the backing paper from the double stick tape on the curved edge of each piece (leaving the straight-edged tape in place, for now).  Set the top and bottom piece in a desired spacing (you can make it a little shorter or taller depending on what's going inside).  Adhere the cellophane piece as shown below:

Fold tabs along dotted lines and put a strip of double stick tape on the tab:

Fold in half and secure tab along side:

Remove tape backing along bottom edge, adhere and crimp...insert your goodies and then do the same to top edge...then decorate!!  If you don't have time to do this idea for Valentine's, it can always carry over to other occasions:

 SC-5 (Small Aiko)

Roses and "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment from CL-14 (Roses)

Snake and "Year of the Snake" sentiment from MC-37 (Year of the Snake).

Mini Matchboxes

Made a bunch of  "Year of the Snake" mini matchboxes:

Click here for a pattern. I made the box (black part) first...and then wrapped the red piece around it to get the perfect fit.  Each box holds 3 chocolate candies...I didn't have any Chinese candy, but it'll hold a few small ones.

The last small pattern piece is for a "stand" to hold the stamped images on the top of the box.  Here's a view from the side so you can see the stand:

I'll be back tomorrow with some Thanksgiving and Christmas versions of these boxes...so, until then...have a great night!!!

Year of the Snake

Hi!!  Back with a picture to share my version of a Chinese li see...not too traditional, but fun!!

Stamps used:  MC-27 (Year of the Snake), Bamboo (CL-8 Friends) and B137 (Berry Swirl).

New Cling Stamps!!!

Hey there...time for some new stamps!!!  I know it's not even Halloween yet, but here are a few stamps for those of you already looking ahead to 2013...the Year of the Snake!!

The next 2 stamps can be used year-round...but I made the frame the right size to fit those 1-/2" x 1-3/4" mini calendars.  You can scroll down to see a sample.

Here's  MC-38 (Sakura Frame) used as a favor with a vellum window.

I'll try to be back soon with a "Year of the Snake" sample...thanks for taking a peek today!!!
