A Thanksgiving Card

Hey!! Just a quick post tonight (heading out for dinner soon!!). Here's a card using stamps #801 (Turkey) and #802 (Happy Thanksgiving). I also used Marvy tag punches (blue and pink) which are raised on pop dots. Printed paper is from My Mind's Eye (Barefoot "You &Me" Tiny Floral). I shouldn't make Thanksgiving cards when I'm starving...now I feel like turkey, yams and stuffing!! ;) Have a great night!!

Pearl City Make 'N Take

Hope you're all having a great weekend!!! Just wanted to share the project we did at the Pearl City Ben Franklin this morning. A little favor to get you in the Halloween mood (Can you believe Monday is already September???). Start off with one of those little wooden spoons...I traced the spoon on a piece of colored cardstock, cut it out and glued it onto the spoon. Then I stamped, colored and cut out some Halloween images and glued them onto the spoon. I covered everything with a coat of Mod Podge to give it a nice finish...tied a ribbon and glued on some paper fall leaves. Here's a look at just the spoon:



I used two sheets of 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" tissue paper, filled it with 5 Hershey's candies, stuck the decorated spoon in the center of everything and wrapped the whole thing up with some wired leaf garland.

Stamps used: #701 (Pumpkin), #703 (Ghost) and #704 (Happy Halloween).

I think I'll try a Thanksgiving card now since I have all the fall leaves out. Check back tomorrow...or maybe later tonight (it COULD happen!!!)

Something Different

I know this card is a little different from what I usually do...but, just thought I'd see if I could make a "guy card". I guess this is as masculine as my stamps can get!! I used scrapbook paint (Making Memories - Daiquiri) along the edges of the brown cardstock...I put just a little paint on my brush and painted a scrap piece of paper until there was barely any paint left, then I painted streaks of color along the edges of the cardstock. I glued a piece of printed paper (Cloud 9 Design - Cocoa Mint) to the card and stamped #B103 (Fancy Swirl) halfway on the brown cardstock and halfway on the printed paper paper. I finished up with #4016 (Script Happy Birthday). Acetate clock is from Heidi Swapp, and photo anchor is from Making Memories.

Happy Mouse

This card was so easy and fast to make. It uses one of my favorite stamps, #1103 (Happy Mouse). I stamped the mouse stamp 4 times and punched them out in random positions using a Marvy (green) circle punch. Then I used the same punch to punch a circle out of patterned paper...I cut off a bit of patterned paper and glued it to each mouse circle...and added a flower bling (from Hero Arts) to each.

Other stamps used: #4016 (Script Happy Birthday) and #6004 (Funky Flower). Paper: Lasting Impressions (Lilac Whimsical Dots) and EK Success (English Lavender and Pale Mint Flower Stripes).

Happy Saturday!!

Just a cute little something using a favor box I found at Ben Franklin. I just stamped, colored and cut out a bunch of characters and layered them with a bunch of pop dots to give it some depth. Then I tied a ribbon around the whole thing and dangled a bunch of flowers from the ribbon with silver cord. I don't know if you can see it, but the cover is a clear acetate...that allows you to see everything inside.

Stamps used: #4018 (Monkey), #4033 (Panda), #5052 (Koala), #5002 (Flower), #5004 (Rosebud) and #5006 (Daisy).

The Hurrier I Go...

...the behinder I get!! I read this on a greeting card once, and it kind of sums up my life right now! (I hope I'm not the only one that can relate to this!!) Anyway...I finally got around to making a card to post. I used a paper doily for the background and tried to match the circular theme with some pieces punched out with a Marvy (blue) circle punch and (pink) scalloped circle punch. I layered a circle and scalloped circle, cut in half and glued to the bottom of the card (scroll down to see what I did with the other half).

Stamps used: #C103 (Maddy at the Mall), #A103 (Shopping) and #5004 (Rosebud).



I know it doesn't really match, but the doily and scalloped circle made me think of a cute favor. I just wrapped the doily around a piece of candy, tied a ribbon and glued on the other half of the scalloped circle that I used on the card. Here's a closer look at the favor:

Sometimes cards come around by accident...it just happened that the brown/green/pink background paper (from Kangaroo and Joey) was in my paper pile next to the striped pink paper (from Bo-Bunny Press). I liked the color combination, so I brought the two papers to my work table where the green rick rack ribbon (from American Crafts) was lying around from a past (failed) project. See? It helps not to be too neat!! I just pulled all these elements together to make this card.

Stamps used: #4026 (Hooray Dog), #5010 (Hooray) and #A104 (So Happy).

I Know It's Tiny...

but, I just couldn't resist!! As long as I can remember I've had a thing for miniatures. As a girl, I collected miniature ceramic animals and tea sets. So, it's no surprise that every now and then I HAVE to make something really small. For those brave few who are willing to risk the eye strain...there's a pattern that you can download here. It's really simple. Cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted ones. Use double stick tape to close the side seam and also to keep the bottom flaps closed. Use a 1/8" hole punch to make one hole in the front and back of the bag...then thread a 4" piece of ribbon through the two holes and tie a knot on each end to hold the ribbon handle in place.

I have one (yup, one!) Werther's candy in there. Lots of work for something so tiny...but soooo cute!!

Are You Ready For Some Halloween?

I don't know if it's too early to start with Halloween...but, I've been seeing some Halloween ideas beginning to pop up out there, so I decided to slowly start putting some things up. I'll start simple...just stamp, color and punch out. Stamps used: #701 (Pumpkin), #704 (Happy Halloween) and #B103 (Fancy Scroll). Let me know if you're ready for more!!

A Little Something...

Remember I told you yesterday how my card came out on the first try? Well, today it was totally the opposite!! Between errands and other work, I've been fidgeting with this all day long...it started out as a card...then turned into a favor...and now it's something else completely!!!
I'm not exactly sure what it is...it's kind of like a card, but kind of like a gift. Take a look and you decide:


I have 3 little plastic bags filled with bling, brads and tags. Each bag is topped with a scalloped oval punch (folded lengthwise) and double-stick taped onto the bag. The "envelope" was made with a piece of vellum which I loosely wrapped around the card (the seam is in the back) , then I folded the bottom up (the back seam and the bottom were secured with double-stick tape).

Now that I made it, I don't know what to do with it!! If anyone would like to receive a "little something" in the mail...post a comment by the end of tomorrow, August 13 (Hawaii time). I'll pick one winner at random and announce their name on Thursday, August 14. Good Luck!!

It's Your Day!

This was one of those cards that worked out on the FIRST try!!! yay!! I usually move things around and tweak this and that...and basically drive myself crazy until I'm happy with the end result. Anyway...here's what I did: I used a Marvy square (blue) and scalloped square (pink) punch. To make the lavendar frame, I first punched a square...then centered that square "hole" in the middle of the scalloped square and punched out a frame. I punched out a square in the card...then a scalloped square out of a piece of vellum. I stamped #5040 (Butterfly With Rose) on the vellum...and colored it from behind for a softer look. Next, tape the vellum over the square punch in the card...then mount the frame on pop dots over the vellum. I decorated the frame with beads strung on a silver cord (just tape the ends of the cord on the back of the frame).

The sentiment (#5011 - It's Your Day) is stamped on a metal rimmed tag and tied on the ribbon with the same silver cord. I like this sentiment because it can go for almost any occasion...from a birthday to a new job to graduation. (Paper is from Creative Imaginations - Sonnets).
