Paradise in a Box

While I still had my sand out from my last project...thought I'd make a beach scene in a box.  Perfect to send to family and friends who are away and may be missing the island life...

Click here for the cover pattern...cut 2, one for the top and one for the bottom.  Put double stick tape on all four tabs of each piece (see below).  Cut a 4-1/2" x 6-3/4" piece of acetate.  Score at 1", 2", 4-1/4" and 5-1/4".  Fold at each scored line and tape edges together at back "seam".  The trickiest part of this project is keeping the measurement of the back panel at 2-1/4" wide when you tape the ends together.  Make your scene on a piece that will fit on back wall of acetate box.  I tried to pop up many layers to get more dimension.

Place the acetate box in one of the cover pieces.  Adhere the side tabs first, as shown below:

Then adhere the other two tabs.   Fill with sand, place your scene along back wall and tape the top cover on in the same way as the bottom.

Beach-y Favors

Hope you're all having a great summer!!!  Can't believe how quickly it's going by!!!  Here's an idea for your next beach-related gathering:

I ran across these little "portion cups" while browsing through the aisles of Longs and immediately thought of our bucket stamp...then on the next day I found some craft bags of sand at Ben Franklin...perfect!!

Click here to get a pattern for the insert to make your beach bucket more cheerful and summery.  Cut 4-1/2" strips for the handle.

Attach handles with colorful brads!!
(Note to self:  remember these next spring for Easter baskets)

Fill with some wrapped candies.  Wrapped is probably better to keep them protected...nothing worse than eating sand!! :p
