Matchbook Favors

I know matchbook favors have been around forever, but I thought I'd put a little twist on things and came up with a pattern that you can download here.

It gives it a little different look with a heart-shaped cover. (I know...I have to practice stapling straighter!!). It's just a matter of cutting on the solid lines and folding on the dotted lines. I made a little slit just above the staple where you can close the cover. Stamp used on this sample is #4029 (Hippo) and the small flower is just one of the flowers on #5030 (Scattered Flowers).

Here's another version...notice how you can cut out the pattern to make the heart face a different way. This sample uses #5013 (Bear With Ladybug) and #5031 (Floral Scroll). Here's a picture of what the inside looks like with a piece of candy stapled in:

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Forgot About This One...

Haven't had much time to stamp today...but, I did remember this card I made a little while ago and never posted!! I started off wanting to use 4 squares of coordinating papers...giving each a little different treatment. Tied a ribbon to one, glittered the second, tilted and edged a third and rounded the corners of the fourth.

Stamps used: #1011 (Pig With Flower), #1012 (Pig Lying Down), #4017 (Script Thank You) and #5006 (Daisy).

I'm working on another pattern...hopefully, I'll be able to post it tomorrow. (I promise to upload it correctly, Cami!! ;)

White On White

Tried doing a mostly white card today...it's hard not using color, but it was fun! I started with paper ribbon from K&Company and white grosgrain ribbon. I stamped and colored stamp #1008 (Teddies) and punched it out with a large (pink) scalloped circle punch by Marvy. I stamped #4015 (Script Love You), then dotted the background with Stickles glitter glue, added stamp #5004 (Rosebud) and added some bling.

To finish the card off I used a decorative pin from Heidi Grace...I added a few beads before sticking it into the ribbon:

Have a great day!

Cute Stuff!!!

Just wanted to share with you this AMAZING card I got from Lianne, owner of Cute Stuff in Puck's Alley. She made this card entirely with Dandelion stamps!!!

Here's a close-up:

I've never made this card before, but I'll try to give you some details. Here's a bird's-eye view so you can better understand what I'm talking about:

It's 2 pieces of 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" cardstock scored at the center line and 3/4" on either side of the center line. The 2 pieces are glued back to back (leaving the area between the scored lines unglued)...bumping the back center "out" and the front center "in". Then she cut 5 little strips of paper approx. 1" x 2-1/4" and decorated them with animals (raised with foam) and sayings...then glued the strips on to alternating sides of the "bump". So creative!!!!!

If you've never been to Cute Stuff, you've gotta go...it's on the second floor in Puck's Alley on the corner of University Ave. and S. King St. It's loaded with...well..the cutest stuff!!!! (Trust me, you'll go crazy!!). Thanks, Lianne...for sharing!!

Layers!

I always think that I'll have a little extra time over a long holiday weekend...but somehow, it just doesn't work out that way!! Anyway, I did find time to squeeze in one card!! I did a lot of layering, starting with the base using DoubleMates in Coffee Brown, then Double Mates in Pretty Pink and the top layer is Basic Grey (Sugared - Luscious). I rounded all the corners...to round the corner on the fold of the card (it's really thick), I just pressed the punch enough to leave a mark, then followed the mark and rounded the corner with my scissors. The heart was punched with a small (green) Marvy heart punch...again I had to punch one layer at a time (starting with the brown cardstock). I stamped #1026 (Pawprint) so you can see it right through the heart window, and covered it with Stickles (fruit punch). I finished the card off with some pink bling from Hero Arts.

Other stamps used: #5037 (Little Dog) and #4021 (Thinking of You).

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!!! We made it through the week and now we can look forward to a nice, loooong weekend!! Yay!!

Today's post started with this tiny (1-3/4" x 2-3/4") glassine envelope. I started off by trying to make one little card to fit into this envelope:

Then I thought it would be nice to make a set of these tiny cards. I cut different colored cardstock into 3" x 2-1/2" pieces...folded in half they make 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" cards. I used the same printed black and white paper (punched out with a small Marvy scalloped oval) and stamped out different animals holding flowers to make it look like a set:

Can you see that all the animals are covered with Crystal Stickles?

Then I thought it would be nice to package it all together to give as a gift:

I wrapped the 6 cards and six envelopes with a strip of cellophane. Next, I cut out a 3" x 5" piece of printed cardstock (scored to wrap right around the pack of cards) and a 5" strip of the b&w paper (glued to a Marvy Scalloped oval punch) and stamped with #5056 (Floral To, From).
Just wrap the pack of cards with the printed cardstock, then the to/from tag (attach on the bottom with double stick tape).

All In One Card

Hi! How's your week going? I hope you're not getting tired of patterns...because here comes another one that you can download here. This pattern is for a card and "envelope" in one piece. Here's a picture of the pattern cut out and folded:

I used half a scalloped circle (Marvy blue punch) to decorate the flap...then added rhinestones. I punched a 1/8" hole through the flap and centered a chipboard flower over it. Next I decorated the first layer with printed paper and paper ribbon (K & Company)...and stapled a 12" piece of ribbon that's then threaded through the hole in the chipboard flower. This ribbon keeps the card closed when it's tied.

On the next layer, I punched out a Marvy scalloped oval (pink) and applied glitter glue around the edges. I stamped, colored and cut #4038 (2 Cats) and added a heart punched with a small (green) Marvy punch.

When you lift the final flap, you'll find stamps #5029 (Floral Heart) and #4017 (Script Thank You).

Good Morning!

Just a quick post to start the day! This is a technique I used a few posts back to make the cork boards. I've been wanting to try it on something clear, and I thought it would work well with these little pails. I used the small (yellow) Marvy circle punch to punch out stamp #5039 (2 Ladybugs), and the small (green) Marvy oval punch to punch out stamp #1022 (Bee). Then I cut out stamps #4003 (Flower Power) and #4004 (Mini Flower Power), added some bling and covered everything with Crystal Lacquer. This time I also sprinkled in some glitter while the Crystal Lacquer was still wet. It takes awhile for it to dry...I usually like to just leave it overnight...then it's dry for sure!!! I've damaged many projects by checking too soon and leaving my fingerprints behind!!!! (ugh!)

Anyway...after it's all dry, then just glue it on the pail...add some ribbons....and that's it! Here's a close up so you can see the glitter:

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!

Surprise Card

I decided to call this a surprise card because it doesn't look like much from the outside...but, there's a surprise waiting on the inside. I have a simple pattern that you can download here.

I used double sided cardstock so you can tell the outside (dark purple) from the inside (lavender). You can either make a copy of the pattern onto the inside (lavender-side) of the paper, or print and cut out the pattern and place it over the cardstock to make the appropriate folds and cuts. Either way, you're going to need 2 pieces of 3"x5" cardstock. On the bottom piece, center and glue a 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of printed paper. On the top piece follow the pattern and cut along solid lines, score along the dashed line and perforate along the dotted lines. I tried many ways of perforating the cardstock...but finally figured out that the best way is to place a ruler along the dotted lines and use an exacto knife to make 1/2" cuts along that line. The smaller the space between the cuts, the easier it will be to tear along the perforation.

Keep all your decorations on the printed piece of paper...then apply glue on the inside (lavender side) of the top piece...apply glue on all side between the edge and the perforation/scored lines. I hope I'm making sense to you!!

To open the card...just tear along the perforation!! You may need to practice perforating before you do your final cut...it took me awhile to get it right...just remember to make the space between cuts as SMALL as possible!!!

Stamps used: #5043 (Peeking Monkey), 5012 (Happy B-Day) and #5042 (Cupcake).

Look What I Got!

It's so much fun for me to get a chance to see what others are doing with Dandelion stamps!! I thought I'd share a couple of things I've received:

This is a thank you card I received from Cathy. Thanks, Cathy!!! It's a shaker card, and there's a bunch of glitter behind that little window...too cute!!!

Here's a clip I got from Charlotte. How clever is that? I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it's a huge clip...about 3-1/2" long. There's also a lot of sparkle in the background!! Thanks, Charlotte...I love it!! I'm going to use it to mark my place in my planner!!

Stamping is such a fun hobby...there are so many creative people out there and they're all so willing to spread the fun around. Thanks for sharing with me!!!!

Kaimuki Paper Party!

Just got back from the paper party at the Kaimuki Ben Franklin. It was so nice to see a lot of you there!! I thought I'd share the project we did. We started with these "Cheeky Jigsaw Shapes" by Making Memories and some miniature clothespins from Equitoriale:

It's so simple...I just used tacky glue to attach the clothespin to the back of the cardstock pieces, then adhered smaller cardstock shapes along with Dandelion stamps, bling, ribbon and glitter glue to come up with these little clips:

Cute...but, what do I do with these clips? Glad you asked...here are some ideas on ways that you can use the clips:

This clip closes the top of a gift bag and holds a little gift card in place.

Clip it to a ribbon to make a gift a little more special.

Mount it on a card...then just clip a picture under the clothespin to make it an instant picture frame. Or...I thought it would be cute for table assignments at a party...just clip the names of your guests under the clothespin.

I added a magnet on the back of this one, then you can use it to clip up little notes or reminders. Thanks again to all who attended...it was a lot of fun!!

Everyday Inspirations

It's amazing how you can find inspiration in the most common, everyday items (especially when you're desperate to do your blog post for the day!!! ;) Today my inspiration was a bag of M&M's. I started with a 6" x 6" piece of paper and rolled it into a tube and secured the edges with double stick tape like this:

I also used a zigzag scissors to edge the 2 open ends. Use double stick tape to close one end (then fill the bag with whatever you want) and close the other end. Now, this part is a trick I learned from Brian of Photo Craft...use a paper crimper to make the ends look sealed. (He uses this technique to do another neat project with photos).

Then, just decorate it! Stamps used are: #3024 (Dog in Heart), #4004 (Mini Flower Power) and #5059 (You're Sweet).

BTW...I'll be doing a make 'n take at the Kaimuki Ben Franklin this Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Hope to see you there!!

Phew!

What a crazy week!! Just a lot of things going on...and then I got sick on top of that!! But, I'm better now...and back with a little desk "thing". I wrapped 3 styrofoam blocks (of graduated heights) with coordinating papers, and glued the 3 blocks together. Then I stamped, colored and cut stamps #1011 (Pig With Flower), #1105 (Cat With Roses) and #5035 (Monkey With Flowers). I taped toothpicks to the back of each character (can you tell I painted the toothpicks pink? :) and poked them through the styrofoam (I put some glue on the toothpick first to make sure they stay put). Then I decorated it with stamp #4016 (Script Happy Birthday...stamped on vellum), ribbons, glitter glue and some stamped flowers (#5002, 5004 and 5006).

Have a great "rest of the week"!

Aloha!

This is my version of a "hawaiian" card...not very traditional, but I think layering all the tropical colored papers gives it the feel of the islands!! Wouldn't it be nice to spread a little aloha to friends and family in other parts of the world?

Stamps used are #2005 (Hula Bear) and #3007 (Floral Aloha).

What a Long Break!!

Sorry for the long break...I had no rubber stamping mojo for a little while!!! But, I'm back with a new pattern that you can download here. As usual...cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines. Here's a bird's-eye view of card so you can see the folds and cuts:

I used the large (yellow) Marvy circle punch for the center of the flowers. Then I stamped #5058 (You Make Me Smile) and cut out each word and inserted a mini flower brad before gluing them down.

Stamp#4039 (Snail)

Stamp #5040 (Butterfly With Rose)

Stamp #5046 (Turtle With Hat).

This is what the card looks like when it's folded up. I hope you get a chance to use this pattern...and, hey!!!...if you do make this or any other card using Dandelion Designs stamps, I would loooove to see it and post it for others to see too!! You can send your creations to me at Dandelion Designs, P.O. Box 61643, Honolulu, Hawaii 96839. Have a great week!!
