Mother's Day Magnets

I picked up these glass marbles from Ben Franklin many months ago when I saw how they made them into cute magnets. I finally dragged them out last night to try my hand at it...and couldn't stop!! I decided to make the whole bag because once they go back into my craft bin...they may never come out again!! Then I thought Mother's Day would be the perfect time to do a giveaway...

It's just a tiny little thing...but, if you would like to win one just leave me a comment by midnight on Saturday, May 9. Tell me the best Mother's Day gift you've ever given or received (or hope to receive!!). I'm also working on some kind of holder/container for these magnets, but thought I'd better post the magnets first, since time is short. You won't get the magnets by Mother's Day...but, at least I can announce the winners on Mother's Day!! There are 20 magnets, so I'll draw 20 winners at random and announce their names on Sunday, May 10.

To make the magnets, I traced around the edge of the marble on some printed paper and cut it out. I stamped, colored and cut some images and glued them on the printed paper. Then I spread clear glue all over the top of the stamped image (I used Tombow Mono Aqua glue), and attached it to the marble. I brushed some Mod Podge over the back and attached a magnet. Then I smeared some Stickles Crystal glitter glue over the top of the marble. Here's a closer look:

Good luck to all...I'll post a picture of the magnets in their holders when I finish them

Well, today I already received a lovely gift from my son! At school, he had made a bag with felt flowers on it!!! Hard work for my boy, but he's so proud (and I'm also!!). Best gift for my mother... a real big hug!!! And of course flowers or chocolats (or both!).

Greetings,

Super cute magnets! The best mother's daygift: my mom and her sister used to leave in different countries, they hadn't seen eachother for years, my aunt couldn't afford an airplane ticket so I saved some money to pay the ticket and I asked to my aunt to visit my mom by surprise. Just to see the two sister was so great! My mom told me it was the best gift ever to see her sister again.

Hi Jean: Love these magnets -- will have to try them. The best Mother's Day gifts I have ever received are the ones my boys make in school. The cards and little trinkets are the best treasures I have!

So cute, and such a great idea!

I received a beautiful heart necklace from my husband last year...and I was still a month away from giving birth. (Baby was born in June) It was such a sweet surprise. I really wasn't expecting anything. =)

Aloha kaua, Jean,

The magnets are great!! I'll have to make a few for my magnet board I made at Brian's Photocraft store last year. ; )

My best Mother's Day gift this year is a beautiful bouquet of lilies from my "hanai" family at Pacific. I also have all the precious cards, etc. my daughter has ever made for me. A hui hou!

OH!! I love these!! They are precious. Now I will have to go get some stones and make some quick for my Daughters.

My best Mother's Day present is wild violets that are picked by my grandkids for me to put in a vase. I always picked a bouquet for my Mom. They are so pretty, and delicately scented and remind me of Mother's Day with her.

Have a Great Mother's Day all! Beth

You're absolutely correct , they have turned out really well! Looks like they could be addiciting!
The nicest Mother's Day present occurred when our 2 sons were small. My DH took us out to a lovely Mother's Day brunch, where a cartoon artist was on site sketching (free) portraits and created one of each of my sons! I have to smile each time I see at the large head captions! Thanks for sharing all your clever creations, I enjoy viewing them! Crafty ME2

Every day is 'Mother's Day' for me while I go through the tears and joys and triumphs of my children...no matter how old they are. They are my most precious gifts. Have a great mother's day too. The best Mother's day gift I ever got was a small tool kit from my daughter. Every day of the week at school each child got a point for being good and at the end of the month they got to choose a prize from the prize box. Instead of getting something for herself that she liked she used her points to get me this little tool kit with several tiny screwdrivers in it. She saved it to give to me on Mother's Day that year. The reason she chose this was because I had looked high and low one day for a screwdriver to fix something and she thought I needed my own set. My daughter died when she was 7 years old and I still cherish this little set of tools to this day with all my heart because of the selfless act on her part and that is why it will always be the very best mother's day gift or any gift I ever got. Really cute magnets! My daughter just returned from a one week trip w/school to Disneyland. I gave her spending money to buy omiyage for herself and her cousins. Instead of spending money on herself, she was so thoughtful and came home w/a boxed 'mom' necklace to present to me for Mother's Day. I was so touched!

I loved the magnets. Sooo...cute. Well for gifts for Mother's Day, I had my Kindergarten students glue squares of green tissue paper onto pink tissue paper together. They used their pencils to wrap the tissue paper around to create flowers. I placed a small dried up tangerine branch into a claypot filled with plaster of paris. They glued those flowers onto the branch wherever they wanted to...the more the nicer. Parents and other teachers gave me comments on how nice it looked. I love making it...if I can get the branches.

Aloha Jean,
My best mommy days gift's are the ones that my 2 boys make in school. My 6 year old made egg carton flowers and it was wrapped it in pretty pink tissue. My 11 year old wrote a very cute poem. All of which I have been collecting throughout the years. I cherish everyone of them! Happy Mother's Day!
