Scrapbook Card

Happy Friday!!! Seems like we just start a week and it's already coming to an end...at least that's what it seems like to me!!! Maybe that's just because things have been so hectic around here! Anyway...I had time today to make this card using a bunch of Maddy stamps to make into a scrapbook page card. I wanted to make each stamp look like a photograph with the white border around the edges. I started with 3 pieces of white cardstock (2-1/2" x 3")...I then made a few pattern pieces out of post-it notes(I use post-it notes so that I can keep the patterns in place while I'm using them) :

The first piece on the left has a 2" x 2-1/2" rectangle cut out of the center, the other 2 pieces have random shapes cut out...the top one to represent clouds and the bottom one to represent grass/sand.

Place the white cardstock, with a stamped image, centered behind the rectangle frame (this will keep the white border around the "photograph". Next, using a cotton swab, brush green chalk along the edge of the grass pattern. Do a few rows of this (moving the pattern to different positions to vary the grass texture). Do the same thing with blue chalk to make the clouds. (Make sure you don't chalk over the stamped image). Before you remove the frame mask, go over it with the appropriate colored chalk one more time to make the white border stand out more. Here's what the 3 "photographs" look like with the backgrounds chalked in (I also edged each one with an deckle-edged scissors):

Stamps used: #B101 (Maddy at the Beach), #C104 (Maddy & Pip), #C105 (Maddy & Tweet) , #B104 (Flower Border) and #6005 (Cherish Simple Joys).

In case you're wondering, this card turned out to be quite large (so that I could fit all 3 images)...it's an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock folded in half. You'll have to save this card for someone special...there's a LOT of room to write!!!

What a neat card. I like the idea you came up with. More ways to use my Dandelion Design stamps.
