ETA: Hi!! Thanks for your patience!! Click here to download a pattern for this project.
Phew!!! Thought I might not make this post in time...this project just would not turn out the way I saw it in my mind!! Anyway...I fiddled with it enough and this is how it turned out:
I'll post a link to a pattern tomorrow (after I get it tweaked just right!!). It's a little Halloween treat box. I'm in a groove of using a brad to make things swing and turn...so, the star brad you see actually makes the yellow circle spin to reveal different greetings. First is "trick or treat"...then:
"Smell my feet", and last (but most important):
Give me something good to eat!!!
This is what the circle looks like when you take it out of the box. The circle was from a pre-cut set of circles I had from "The Paper Cut"...it measures 4.38" in diameter. I punched a hole right in the middle of the circle.
For the box (template will be posted tomorrow)...cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines. Cut out the square opening in the front of the card and use a Marvy (green) circle punch to make the semi-circle punch at the top. Put the circle inside of the box and mark the center of the box. Use a brad to punch through the card and the circle. Use double stick tape on the two 1/4" tabs to put the box together.
Next...I stamped, colored and cut out the 2 trick-or-treaters. I stamped the words "trick or treat" right through the opening onto the yellow circle...then pasted "Buddy the Clown" right next to it. I turned the circle just enough for Buddy to clear the opening. I did the same thing for the next 2 greetings and images.
Here's the giveaway:

Pumpkin Card Make 'n Take
I'm back...sorry for such a loooong break!!! I wanted to share the make 'n take project we did a few weeks ago at Photo Craft, and again at Hilo Ben Franklin's paper party this past Saturday!! Before I do, let me just say thank you to the fun and friendly staff and customers in Hilo...you all made us feel so welcome and we had such a nice time!!!
Now, on to the project:
It's a simple card where the trick-or-treater pops out as you open the top of the pumpkin. Here's a pattern for you to download to make this card. Start off by cutting out 3 pattern pieces; the top of the pumpkin, the bottom of the pumpkin and the stem. Stamp a sentiment on the right side of the bottom piece. The bottom piece should overlap the top piece by about 1/4"...Use a 1/16" hole punch to make a hole on the left side...then insert a brad through the 2 layers. Here's a front and back view:
Next, lift the cover open until the little tab pops out. Apply glue on this tab and place your cut-out character on it (making sure that your character is standing up straight without hitting his head on the cover):
Now take 3 pop dots and place them as shown below:
The top pop dot is placed where you want the cover to stop in the closed position...the other two are placed on the bottom. Just make sure that none of the pop dots get in the way of your image when it's swinging open. Stick the pumpkin onto a 3" x 3" card. Glue on the stem piece and add a ribbon with a glue dot. Decorate the pumpkin with glitter glue.
Now for the long-promised giveaway...to win these 3 new Halloween designs, just leave a comment by midnight (Hawaii time) on Tuesday, September 29. I'll pick one winner at random and announce their name on Wednesday, September 30.
Before I go, let me also share some goodies I received in Hilo:
This beautiful bracelet was made by Lynn (Lynn's Craft Blog). Thanks, Lynn!!! It was so nice to meet you!!
And these treats were from Jenny (Crazy for Paper Crafting)!!! Jenny's the one who got me hooked on the chocolate dipped lemon shortbread cookies from Big Island Candies...and she gave me more!!! Yum!!! It's so nice to be able to put a face with the people who blog...I enjoyed meeting both of you!!!
