Surprise Card
I decided to call this a surprise card because it doesn't look like much from the outside...but, there's a surprise waiting on the inside. I have a simple pattern that you can download here.
I used double sided cardstock so you can tell the outside (dark purple) from the inside (lavender). You can either make a copy of the pattern onto the inside (lavender-side) of the paper, or print and cut out the pattern and place it over the cardstock to make the appropriate folds and cuts. Either way, you're going to need 2 pieces of 3"x5" cardstock. On the bottom piece, center and glue a 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of printed paper. On the top piece follow the pattern and cut along solid lines, score along the dashed line and perforate along the dotted lines. I tried many ways of perforating the cardstock...but finally figured out that the best way is to place a ruler along the dotted lines and use an exacto knife to make 1/2" cuts along that line. The smaller the space between the cuts, the easier it will be to tear along the perforation.
Keep all your decorations on the printed piece of paper...then apply glue on the inside (lavender side) of the top piece...apply glue on all side between the edge and the perforation/scored lines. I hope I'm making sense to you!!
To open the card...just tear along the perforation!! You may need to practice perforating before you do your final cut...it took me awhile to get it right...just remember to make the space between cuts as SMALL as possible!!!
Stamps used: #5043 (Peeking Monkey), 5012 (Happy B-Day) and #5042 (Cupcake).
